Establishing a place for you

Yes, things can be different for you.  Far from being “selfish” an investment in your psychological growth is as important as family and financial investments.  The rewards are experienced in your own contentment level and in the resulting decisions and relationships you make.

The therapists’ office is a confidential place where you can talk with a professional.  It is often helpful to speak with someone objective in a private setting so that you can feel free to fully explore your situation.

Meeting in person is the best way to see how we might work together.  You will have a chance to see how comfortable you feel with me.  I will have a chance to see if I feel I am the right person to help you.  As a successful treatment is my goal for you, I will tell you if I think another professional can better address your issues.  Of course, I will help you find another referral if that is the case.

Again, what you say to me is confidential except for situations mandated to be reported by the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland.
